The twice postponed Hebden Bridge Little Theatre New Drama Festival, concluded on Saturday 30 July, and the Judges’ Prize, for the overall winner of Play Write! 2020, was announced. The trophy went to Jonathan Skinner, for his comedy, Angle of Drift. The play was performed at the three day Festival, alongside the other three finalists in the play writing competition: Lightning Once, by Martin Pursey, Terminal 1, by Dave Payne, and Happiness is a Journey, by John Hill.

Jonathan Skinner is a London-based playwright/screenwriter whose work has been produced throughout the UK and in New York, Los Angeles and Sydney.  Jonathan was the winner of the 2020 Transition Stage Company’s Enter Stage Write at the Birmingham Hippodrome and was previously shortlisted for the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing.  His work has been showcased at The Criterion Theatre in London’s West End. Stage credits include: Buff (Pleasance Theatre, London); Spit or Swallow? (Theatre Royal, Stratford East); Eggshells (Royal Court Studio, Liverpool); Curtains (Robert Moss Theatre, NYC, USA).  Jonathan’s short film Indignitas has recently been optioned with shooting scheduled for September 2022. He is a finalist in the 2022 IMDb Script to Screen Awards.
