2017 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act, which began to remove discrimination against gay people being open about their sexuality.
The theatre has played an important role in the progress towards equality, by dramatising issues around sexuality, and there have been many prominent gay actors and playwrights who have contributed to this process.
