Written and initially performed in Leeds by the actor Maxine Peake – “Beryl” uses 4 actors, 4 bikes, back projections and loads of props to tell the jaw dropping story of the Yorkshire cyclist Beryl Burton. Probably one of the greatest athletes you have never heard of. Holding multiple world records over the 60s, 70s and 80s, her inspirational story is brought vividly to life in this vibrant, moving and uplifting play.
