A local amateur operatic society is performing a production of the musical Annie. Unfortunately\, the girls playing Annie and the orphans have dropped out of the show\, and the director has also dropped out due to nervous exhaustion. The redoubtable society chairperson\, Felicity Reed Royce\, rallies the society members to step into the breach and save the show\, with disastrous and hysterical results.
