SUMMARY:Double Bill of One Act Plays
DESCRIPTION:DOUBLE BILL OF ONE ACT PLAYS \nOct 6th – 11th 2025 \nBlue Remembered Hills by Dennis Potter \nDirector Jenny Gore \nIt’s a hot summer’s day in 1943 and seven children play\, laugh\, sing and cry somewhere in the woods just before tea-time. In a whirl of constant activity\, their lives are brim-full of joy and horror\, anxiety and delight. \nDennis Potter’s affectionate study captures the traumas of childhood beneath the apparently innocent surface. He reminds us that adults are children who have simply substituted subtlety for spontaneity. \nThat rose-tinted nostalgia for the ‘blue remembered hills’ of our youth is not always justified. \n  \nLemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons by Sam Steiner \nDirected by Gil Burns \nThe average person will speak 123\,205\,750 words in a lifetime. But what if there were a limit? This play imagines a world where we’re forced to say less. \nSam Steiner tells the story of Bernadette and Oliver\, a young couple trying to come to grips with a society that has an imposed limit in which each person is only allowed to use up to 140 words in a single day. It explores this imposition from their two perspectives as they negotiate life\, love and conflict with ever less options on how to communicate their feelings. \nThe non-linear narrative flits from past to present\, exploring how the couple navigate through turbulent waters as Steiner strips the text and the characters to their emotional core. \nTICKETS AVAILABLE \nPoster Design – Hannah Stow

SUMMARY:LipService presents Funny Stuff
DESCRIPTION:LipService presents \nFunny Stuff \nWritten & performed by Sue Ryding \nSue Ryding is one half of legendary comedy duo LipService. In 2022 her comedy partner Maggie Fox died\, and Sue was left with a shipping container full of stage props\, costumes\, wigs\, hats\, shoes\, sheep\, you name it. This show looks at all the “stuff” we accumulate\, hoard and hate to let go. In this humorous and creative response to grief\, Sue struggles to part with a life-sized stuffed sheep\, a badger onesie\, some ruby slippers\, a sinking bog\, Charlotte Bronte’s knickers and a host of soft toys. Touring anecdotes are combined with archive footage from LipService shows. Not all the items will be making it back up the loft ladder\, so the audience is invited to take something home. Come along and help Sue on her journey of letting go. \nTICKETS AVAILABLE HERE

SUMMARY:Audition notice for Deathtrap - by Ira Levin
DESCRIPTION:Audition notice for Deathtrap by Ira Levin \nDirected by David Howes \nSunday 9th of November at 6.30pm in the Little Theatre \nPerformance Dates: April 20th to the 25th 2026 \nAbout the Production: \nDeathtrap is a sharp\, darkly comedic thriller about ambition\, manipulation\, and the blurred lines between art and reality. In this fresh\, all-female reimagining of Ira Levin’s classic\, the gender-flipped casting amplifies the play’s tension and wit\, exploring power and creativity through a new lens. \nSidney Bruhl\, once a celebrated playwright of Broadway thrillers\, is desperate to regain her former glory. When she receives an ingenious new play from her student Cleo Anderson\, Sidney sees a path back to success — but it might require murder. Twists\, turns\, and razor-edged humor make Deathtrap a masterclass in suspense. \nRoles: \nSIDNEY BRUHL – (40s–60s) A once-successful playwright now struggling with creative failure. Sharp\, witty\, and dangerously ambitious. \nCLEO ANDERSON – (20s–30s) A talented and passionate young writer. Intelligent\, charming\, and ambitious — with hidden layers. (formerly “Clifford”) \nMYRA BRUHL – (40s–60s) Sidney’s supportive and anxious wife. Warm-hearted but deeply affected by Sidney’s cynicism. \nPORTIA MILGRIM – (40s–70s) A perceptive lawyer and friend of Sidney (formerly “Porter”) \nHELGA TEN DORP – (40s–70s) A famous psychic visiting from Europe; flamboyant\, sincere\, and unpredictable. \nPlease message if you’re interested in auditioning and I’ll get in touch:\ndavidhowes1977@hotmail.com

SUMMARY:Bindweed
DESCRIPTION:Bindweed\, a play by Martha Loader \nA Rise & Howl Production\nDirected by Paul Chewins \nSat 21st March 2026\n7:30pm \n“Thursdays\, curry night. Curry and a pint for a fiver. Go at five thirty\, home by ten. Beat my mum up for a while. Bed by ten thirty.” \nIn a run-down community centre\, four men convicted of domestic abuse offences gather each week in a last-chance programme to keep them out of prison. Leading them is Jen\, a former police officer with her own secrets and scars. \nBindweed is a shattering and darkly funny play about responsibility and rehabilitation\, which looks at what can be done to tackle abuse at its root and asks whether accountability can ever truly lead to transformation. This powerful\, intimate exploration is theatre at its most compelling; not just a play but a conversation society desperately needs. \nThis is an amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books. \nTickets Available \n

SUMMARY:The Tempest
DESCRIPTION:The Tempest by William Shakespeare \nDirected by Jenny Gore \nMon 5th October 2026 – Sat 10th October 2026\n7.30 p.m \nThe Tempest was one of Shakespeare’s last plays. After the first scene\, depicting a ship at sea in a mighty tempest\, the story continues on a remote island inhabited by the magician Prospero and his daughter\, Miranda\, who were washed ashore twelve years before. They live with an untamed monster\, Caliban\, and a spirit\, Ariel\, who lived on the island before Prospero arrived\, but are forced into servitude by him. \nThe play explores themes of magic\, betrayal\, revenge and forgiveness. It reflects the cruelty of colonialism in the 17th century\, and it is possible that Shakespeare based the character of Prospero on himself\, for just as Prospero relinquished his magic\, Shakespeare stopped creating his magical plays. \nTickets available now!
