The Little Theatre’s next production is the Tony Award-winning play Proof, from 2-7 October.

Catherine is mourning the recent passing of her father, Robert, a maths professor. Feeling vulnerable she fears she has inherited Robert’s inclination towards mental instability, as well as his maths genius.
Into the equation comes Hal, an ex-student of her father’s, who is looking through his mentor’s old notebooks to see if there is anything of value for publication – a lost mathematical ‘Proof’.

Catherine assures him that the notebooks are filled with scribbles and nonsense as her father wrote them when he was at his most delusional. Then Hal makes a sensational discovery that threatens to turn everyone’s world upside down!

Proof is a play about genius and madness, love and trust, and is, by turns, tender and compassionate, humorous and gripping. Described as ‘an exhilarating and assured new play…accessible and compelling as a detective story’, Proof won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play.

The director, Vaughan Leslie, is delighted with his cast and crew, and is confident this will be an outstanding production of a wonderful play.
